HIGH SCHOOL MINISTRY (Grade 9-12)
Meeting Nights: The youth group meets every other week (although dates vary from time to time). We dig deeper into our Catholic faith, enjoy spending time with one another and have a great time all while drawing closer to Christ! We also love meeting new people and are waiting for you to join us! We have a lot of food at every meeting!
Bible Study: Meeting every other week (opposite youth group meeting nights). Our current study is on the book OF exoand the Theology of the Body. When young students of the Bible first understand the "story" they are eager to learn more. The net result: Teens begin to wrap their minds and hearts around the Scriptures, perhaps for the first time. They come to see the Bible as something good and relevant--and then make it a part of their lives.
Other Opportunities: Some of our other activities include but are not limited to an annual dinner dance cruise, annual trip to the March for life in D.C., retreats, ice skating in downtown Pittsburgh, hayrides, mission trips, Steelers Parties, and many other faith-filled and fun events!
MIDDLE SCHOOL MINISTRY (Grades 6-8): Still in the process of starting back up again. If you are a parent of a middle school teen, and would like to get on board to help us create a vibrant middle school ministry, contact Bob by email, or by cell: 724-674-4383.
Why We Do What We Do
+ Conclusive studies have shown that effective youth ministry has a profound impact on our young people in their parishes
+Investiment in our parish youth results in providing a stable path for them to walk on!
+Becoming a "Youth Friendly Parish" means all peoples of the parish embrace our youth.
The mission of St. Francis Cabrini Youth Group is to provide an atmosphere of a loving faith community for the teens of our parish. We do this through the celebration of the Mass and the Sacraments. From the prayer of our hearts, and work from our hands, we will allow Eucharist to form our minds, heal broken hearts, serve the poor, and the less fortunate. Through this action of the Holy Spirit we shall be renewed and restored, and become a vibrant place of hope and teen outreach!
"I would like to thank Bob for all the wonderful things he has done for me, my brother and hundreds of young men and women during his time as youth minister. The advice, the help, and the mentorship has been second to none. My sense of morality would not be anywhere close to what it is now without him and my relationship with God, practically non-existent. He has been the best leader, mentor, and friend I could hope to have."
"Bob is the man!
I am incredibly appreciative of the work he has done with the Hope and Power tour and thankful for all he gives to our young people."
"The retreat [Bob put on for us] taught me so much. I learned more about God, my faith, and my trust in others. This retreat meant so much to me because it made me feel like everyone was paying attention [to each other]. I felt more comfortable asking questions, answering questions, and exploring my faith because I could tell that everyone was honestly interested. my classmates and I were all really included in all the games and activities[...] Everything we talked about really made me think about it and made me want to be a better person."
"The retreat taught me many things, not only about the Catholic faith and God, but also about myself[...]I learned to keep the Holy Spirit with me and to be strong through hard times and to pray to God. It was a great experience, and I'm glad I was able to share it with my classmates."
